With CD sales in free fall and legal downloads yet to fill the gap, the music industry has reluctantly embraced the file-sharing technology that threatened to destroy it. Qtrax, a digital service announced today, promises a catalogue of more than 25 million songs that users can download to keep, free and with no limit on the number of tracks.
The service has been endorsed by the very same record companies - including EMI, Universal Music and Warner Music – that have chased file-sharers through the courts in a doomed attempt to prevent piracy. The gamble is that fans will put up with a limited amount of advertising around the Qtrax website’s jukebox in return for authorised use of almost every song available.
It doesn’t work with iPods, but I hella don’t expect that part to last very long.

Alexander Novgorodov, the reader of the portal R&D.CNews from Moscow Region, has pointed to an object of unusual morphology found on Mars images made by the spacecraft Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter.
On the images taken from the orbit an unusual mountain formation is depicted, which seems to have resulted from weathering (erosion) and is located amid the frozen ocean. The given formation drop-like shape (in section), its evidently erosion origin and the unusual structure at the base, which might be conventionally called a ‘door’ for its physical resemblance, are of interest.
The object unusual form and the presence of a ‘door’ do not mean the mountain formation is of artificial origin. The mentioned peculiarities are of primary interest because of their morphology.
The other images sent by our reader depict another formation of unusual shape resembling a pyramid with a regular polygon at the base.

SWEET FANCY MOSES, GOOD TIMES. I ordered it @ 7:30 AM today…and have heard good things about Newegg’s shipping protocols…I hope the legends be true. I am salivating over building this new machine! It’s my first Intel-based computer, so there’s an added dimension of excitement to the proceedings…and as long as we’re on that topic, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Code-Slinger, foxx, and tcgiant for alla their input regarding benchmarks, dream rigs and customization preferences.
Next big purchase: a microphone for MU. I’d like to start throwing my hat in there. Maybe I can use my Skype Headset..it wasn’t functioning well under Vista on my soon-to-be-old rig. It was difficult to participate in chats and what not…a “Max Headroom”-ish effect dominated my every experience. Hopefully that’ll not be the case here. I FIND OUT SOON!

Capcom just announced that Street Fighter 4 is in development, set to be released at least a year from now.

As Capcom’s media event gets started overseas, the company has already
dropped one spectacularly major, but long awaited, announcement by
revealing Street Fighter IV is currently in development. Capcom’s
community website has been counting down for over a week now, as gamers
have speculated over what could be such a big deal.
The short teaser is nothing more than some Ryu and Ken stylized artwork
of them fighting, with no word on what platforms the game is coming to
or a projected release date. Clearly, Capcom is strictly teasing at
this point.
Of all games, Street Fighter IV is probably worthy of such a countdown,
considering Capcom released the original iteration of Street Fighter
III back in 1997. A few months later came 2nd Impact: Giant Attack,
which tweaked the gameplay and introduced two new characters,
eventually followed up by 3rd Strike: Fight for the Future, bringing
back Chun-Li and an addition four new characters, in 1999.
Unfortunately, we don’t know anything more than that, and any
impressions or announcements from the event are embargoed until later
this week. Until then, let the speculation begin on what Capcom’s
bringing to the table in their latest numbered sequel in the Street
Fighter series.
